This year, each of you will maintain a digital portfolio of your work. This is a place for you to collect pieces of writing you are proud of, analysis of texts that you read and your reflections about the year. They will be public- I strongly suggest you only use your first name, or have a nickname that you use for our work. You will share this page with your classmates, myself, other TYWLS students and people outside of TYWLS.
You will start by creating and designing your page. What will potentially go on here:
The RUBRIC is at the bottom of the page!
Task 1: Create a portfolio. Last year we used tumblr- but this year I will open it up if you have a different platform you would like to use. Know how to create a weebly? Go for it...have something else you like to use that's easy in this way? Go for it! Tumblr is the easiest for quickly uploading different types of media, that's why I chose it. Here's a handy "how to" website to help you out: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/21896/create-a-beautiful-easy-to-update-blog-with-tumblr/
*If you are already have a tumblr, I suggest you create a new blog just for this work. You can link your tumblrs, but it might be a good idea to keep the school on separate. This is your choice, but may keep things organized nicely.
* Warning and reminder: This is for a school audience and should have an overall ELA focus
Task 2: Your first post: In order to introduce yourself, write just a few lines about who you are as a reader and writer. See these tumblrs for examples.

YOU DO NOT have to put a photo if you don't feel comfortable. As for the text, be honest- if you only read magazines or online, share that!
Task 3: Put your 6 word memoir on your portfolio- not just a link, the actual image.
Task 4: Put a link to your goodreads so I can easily access it. You can link the page with your updates by clicking on your picture. It will show your profile with recent updates: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/350986-christy-kingham
Task 5: Write a few lines reflecting about how it's going so far in ELA for you
Task 6: Share a link to your work with me by emailing it to ckingham@me.com!
EVIDENCE: At this Point you will be assessed using our first rubric: this is due by Wednesday, October 1st
Task 7: Put a link to your This I Believe OR an excerpt on your tumblr. Then write a brief reflection about your process!
Task 8: Book Club and The Bluest Eye Reflection: Now that you've read two "classics", take a moment to reflect about our work so far. Here are some of the essential questions we began with. Please respond to one (or some) of these. (I imagine a paragraph or two!)
Task 9: Critical Lens Reminders: We are going to come back and jump right in to Regents Prep. What do you want to remember for your critical lens essay writing? Make a quick list.
Task 10: Regents and SAT reflection and moving on! Please take moment to reflect about your experience with the regents (or SAT prep). What are your take aways? What skills did you get good at? What do you still need to work on? Did our preparation work well for you? How so? Anything you wish you had more time to practice? Any goals you have starting the second half of the year? I want to read more independently...how about you?
Task 11: Macbeth Reflection: Take a photo of your Macbeth subtext art, if that's possible to accompany your post. Write a reflection about your work with Macbeth...
Task 12: Student Led Conference Reflection: How are things going in ELA? What outcomes are you working on over the next few weeks? What ouctomes are your strengths?
Task 13: Contemporary Text Project- Reflection. What are your thoughts after analyzing your texts in regards to their place on a reading list?
Task 14: Narrative Non-Fiction Scrapbook link and explanation
Task 15: This I Believe (2) Link
